            WIN IN LIFE

The Bible tells us that we are more than conquerors. We have, through Christ, become victors. Christ declared the war against sin and death was won when He announced to the world, “It is finished! (John 19:30).” Moreover, we read that the culmination of Jesus’ awesome victory is fulfilled at judgment time as shown in the book of Revelation.

For this reason, it is vital that we do not succumb to the spirit of this world but rest in the victory Christ achieved for Heaven and for His people. Christians who walk around defeated most their days are actually living a lie. Whether you feel like you’re failing is irrelevant. All that matters is what Christ did on the cross; He won!

We need to be like Lord Horatio Nelson, Britain’s great naval hero. When he was fighting the Battle of Copenhagen and his fleet was in trouble, one of his senior officer hoisted the flag signalling retreat. Nelson who was blind in one eye deliberately put his telescope to his
this eye and said, "I do not see it." The battle turned and he went on to capture 12 enemy ships with all their bounty. Go by faith not by sight!

SCHOOL'S IN : SCRIPTURE AT BANKSTOWN'S GIRL HIGH

Club Eden is the name of our Bible class at Bankstown Girls High- one of Australia's most multicultural schools. oves to worship God. LIFE has been running this study with the aim of taking the good news of Jesus to today's kids in a format they can enjoy and understand. Even though some of thee young women have come from Christian backgrounds, they often have a need to hear what being a Christian really is all about. In an atmosphere of friendliness and fun, they are presented with life keys to help them through this challenging stage of their life.

The girls are absolutely great to talk to and they soak in the lessons. Naturally, they get lollies and chocolates every week just to spoil them a little! Some girls have become regulars at LIFE church following their experience at Club Eden. One girl, who comes from a North Vietnamese family, came to Christ and was baptized last year. Her young brother was baptized this year and the change in their lives has been a revelation.

FROM KOREA AND JAPAN WITH LOVE

Recently the Grancha household has been a hive of activity for visiting overseas students. In February we had the pleasure of hosting Jin from South Korea- an English Teacher from Inchon. He stayed one month all the time learning about the Aussie culture and doing whatever the Granchas did. That meant coming to church on Sundays too- a new experience for Jin whose parents were non religious. On his last week he spoke to Ps Alex about the meaning of Jesus' life. After chatting for one hour Jin gave his life to Christ. As a result, he returned to Korea with great enthusiasm and new found hope and now his whole family attends a Presbyterian church over there. Before he left he said, "The greatest thing I am taking back with me is Christ." Awesome!!

Then in March, two young guys from Japanese high schools stayed for only four days. Jimmy and Shun packed a lot into those days including being the stars of a home made movie Elliot directed. These young men were also a pleasure to host. On the Sunday they were here they went to... you guessed it... LIFE church. When Ned Davies preached that morning the boys responded and decided to follow Christ. They wrote a letter saying, "We wish we could stay in Australia!". They left with a memento of their new faith gained in Australia- a Hillsong United CD!

RETURN TO MYANMAR

This month Pastor Alex returned to Myanmar following a visit last August. Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is a place rich in culture and history. Unlike the last trip there which centered around bustling Yangon, this time around Alex headed to Mandalay and from there travelled to the North. Travelling around Myanmar was not easy as buses had to take the place of planes when the latter were cancelled. Alex spent 38 hours aboard old buses on the two trips back and forth to the North! The trip was a great experience and includeda visit to a children's orphanage (see pictured) full of awesome kids as well as a look at other community work.
