THIS WEEK'S E-LETTER

 

 

"For unto us a child is born...

It was almost Christmas back in 1974 and four garbage collectors were picking up rubbish bins along the avenues of Paris. As they neared the Elysee Palace their truck was suddenly stopped by a policeman. The men looked at each other wondering what they had done wrong. To their surprise they were informed that the President, Valery Giscard d'Estaing wanted to have breakfast with them. The four amazed garbos were escorted before the French President to enjoy the morning meal. He then wished them an enjoyable day and gave each man a Christmas present of a turkey and a bottle of champagne.

Perhaps the president had seen the men from his window as they travelled along doing their early morning work. The idea that he could bless them came into his head. Because it was in his power to do so he was able to interrupt their routine with a gift that touched their lives. In a more profound way, our Heavenly Father has interrupted the world's routine and impacted mankind with the gift of the Saviour.

Like the president who was moved at seeing those garbage men, God has seen from His heavenly window the struggle of men and women. He planned and designed the most awesome gift; salvation to all through the giving of a sinless one. God moved heaven and earth at that point in time 2000 years ago. The world was changed forever. History has never been the same; altered irrevocably by the birth of this babe in a stable. As you prepare to celebrate Christmas with family and friends this week, stop and interrupt someone's life with a wish and encouragement. Tell them about this wonderful gift... Salvation!
