MEN
ON THE MOVE
Today,
more than ever, men face a numerous of pressures. To be good husbands,
to be good fathers, to be faithful, dependable, financially secure,
selfless people who will have a purpose in life. In short, society is
looking for men to be all they were meant to be. However, outside of
God, this is impossible.
That's
why it's vital to for them to find their identity in God and not in
whatever the current trend may be. A man of God is a man who has direction
and a role to play during their generation. They are also people who
know it's good to have some support and guidance. Men on the Move is
LIFE's ministry to men, helping them to be all God calls them to. With
guest speakers and social activities men can get together and be inspired
every quarter. Watch the website, or grab a newsletters for details. You can also contact
the office on 97911400 for imformation.
J.O.L.T
It's not easy being a teen today. LIFE
goes to Bankstown Grammar High School and take JOLT,
a basic Christian principles class for students from year 7 right up to
year 12. These are fun times of learning and also to teach some good life principles.
We have also conducted the program GO7 for Girls- a seven day course
which prepares Year 10 and 11 students to enter into the workforce.
ENHANCE
A team from LIFE visits nursing homes and hospitals in the Bankstown area. The ministry is called Enhance. Visits
are uncomplicated times of simply being with older citizens who can't
get around now as they once used to. These great people love the
get togethers and appreciate things we often take for granted: a listening
ear, a younger face to look at, even a child in their presence.
Why
not get involved? You don't have to hold a physics degree to be
a friend to an aged person. And it doesn't take much time to make
someone happy, just 30 minutes a fortnight. Ring Maria on 9790
7532 for more info.
BANKSTOWN
FESTIVAL AND CAROLS
LIFE
plays an integral part in the yearly Bankstown Christmas Festival and
Carols. We have plenty of volunteers to help make the event a
big success and are involved in its planning as well as promotion and
sponsorship. In 2008 saw close to $50,000 raised in
services and funds. The
event is made possible by the Bankstown Christian Churches, Bankstown
City Council and Fusion Australia.
This year the event is on Saturday, December 12 and the festival starts at 3pm in Paul Keating Park, Bankstown. Carols programme commences at 7pm and finishes with a bang with the well loved fireworks.
