LIFE
ON WHEELS
LIFE
On Wheels is our outreach to the Bankstown Community. It is our
way of showing God's Love and Grace through giving something back to
the people of Bankstown. The LIFE On Wheels team greet total strangers
who are heading home after a hard days work and give them coffee, hot
chocolate, and home baked cake. Hey, it's fun watching people's faces
when they're told it's all for free!
MEN
ON THE MOVE
Today,
more than ever, men face a numerous of pressures. To be good husbands,
to be good fathers, to be faithful, dependable, financially secure,
selfless people who will have a purpose in life. In short, society is
looking for men to be all they were meant to be. However, outside of
God, this is impossible.
That's
why it's vital to for them to find their identity in God and not in
whatever the current trend may be. A man of God is a man who has direction
and a role to play during their generation. They are also people who
know it's good to have some support and guidance. Men o nthe Move is
LIFE's ministry to men, helping them to be all God calls them to. With
guest speakers and social activities men can get together and be inspired
every quarter. Watch the website, or grab a newsletters for details. You can also contact
the office on 97911400 for imformation.
CLUB
EDEN
LIFE
goes to Bankstown Girls High where Julie, Pam, and Alex take Club Eden,
a basic Christian principles class for girls from year 7 right up to
year 12. The lessons empower and benefit girls who are confronted by
the weight of society's thin values, superficiality, and sexual peer
pressure. It's not easy being a teen today. It's also lots of fun with
plenty of ingenious games to keep the girls active.
Recently
we have also conducted the program GO7 for Girls- a seven day course
which prepares Year 10 and 11 students to enter into the workforce.
A big thanks to Rob Buchan and the school for having us!
ENHANCE
Many
of LIFE's members are actively involved in Enhance- a visitation ministry
to nursing homes and hospitals in the Bankstown area. The visits
are uncomplicated times of simply being with older citizens who can't
get around now as they once used to. These great people love the
get togethers and appreciate things we often take for granted: a listening
ear, a younger face to look at, even a child in their presence.
Why
not get involved? You don't have to hold a physics degree to be
a friend to an aged person. And it doesn't take much time to make
someone happy, just 30 minutes a fortnight. Ring Maria on 9790
7532 for more info.
BANKSTOWN
CAROLS
LIFE
plays an integral part in the yearly Bankstown Christmas Festival and
Carols. We have plenty of volunteers to help make the event a
big success and are involved in its planning as well as promotion and
sponsorship. In 2004 & 2005 we saw over $50,000 raised in
services and funds. The
event is made possible by the Bankstown Christian Churches, Bankstown
City Council and Fusion Australia.
TSUNAMI
CHALLENGE (from home page)
LIFE,
working with the Sri Lankan Assemblies of God Pastorn Cami De Almeida,
has played
a part in helping the devastated areas of Sri Lanka following the Tsunami
disaster. The focus has been on reconstructing 5 villages, rebuilding
5 schools, rebuilding businesses, and support 100 orphans through schooling.
Already Cami's church has sent clearing and cleaning teams to two of
the affected areas. The response has been awesome. Pastor Cami
writes, "People who once persecuted us (Christians) are seeing
the compassion of Jesus through our actions and pubicly acknowledging
it!"
LIFE
has sent finances to ensure this work is a success. For more information
contact Pastor Alex on 02 9724 4290 as to how you can help.
